Coaching is a collaborative process for normal healthy people with normal everyday problems. Sometimes in life we find ourselves in a situation where either we don’t know how or just need more support and accountability to achieve a truly fulfilling life. There could be something blocking the life we dream of, or we may not be able to define or articulate our goals.

Coaching focuses on the future, from a positive angle. This means that we, as professional coaches look for the clients strengths, talents and skills, and use those to achive your goals.  People of all ages and all walks of life use coaches to help them live their dreams.  (adapted from IAPLC)

What is Coaching?

How Coaching Differs From Therapy?

Before coaching was a profession, and even today, many therapists include coaching as part of their services, even if it is not defined as coaching.  Therapy is intended to diagnose and treat mental health disorders, and assist clients to move past previous trauma. This usually means looking at the past from an illness perspective.  If you are at all unsure about whether you need coaching or therapy, we strongly recommend that you consult with a licensed therapist or psychiatrist.

6 Powerful Questions That Will Change Your Life Forever
By James McWhinney

I cared for myself enough to change my life but I didn’t have the slightest clue where to start. I spent my days wishing that things would change—that I could escape a life that my soul could no longer bear.

The worst part of all, I was living the life that society had always told me to live. “Find a secure job, work hard,” they would say. “Get a solid job and work your way up the ladder.”

I don’t know about you, but it turns out that for me, the “right thing to do” sucked the joy out of life.
